Breaking Barriers - Women's Mental Health in Male Dominted Workplaces

Today we celebrated Women’s Health Week with an honest and empowering conversation about mental health, belonging, and resilience in male-dominated industries.

Did you know...

 • Women in male-dominated industries are 50% more likely to report high stress levels.

• 1 in 3 women experience gender-based discrimination at work.

 • Expectations around caregiving, long hours, and rigid schedules add extra pressure.

 • Burnout and mental health impacts are higher for women than men.

The group came away with:

• Practical strategies for self-care and resilience

• Clear steps to create supportive, inclusive workplaces

• How allies can stand up, speak out, and model change

Key Takeaway: Allyship is powerful. It can be as simple as refusing to join in blokey banter, publicly celebrating women’s achievements, offering mentorship, interrupting microaggressions, or sharing your own story so others feel safe to share theirs.

Thank you to Angie Roche (Luma ) | For her Health and Wellbeing) for leading such a thought-provoking session. And to our wonderful sponsors that support us and help us find a voice: C.R.Kennedy & Company - Geospatial DivisionVeris and the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors (WAIS) - Surveyors WA- they are instrumental in driving this initiative that champions connection, leadership, and opportunity for women in our profession.

***Together, through solidarity and allyship, we can create a culture where everyone belongs and thrives.
