Who We Are?

Kelly Maloney is a Founder, Director and Business Manager at CK Maloney Surveying in Perth, Western Australia. With a background in business management and urban planning, Kelly plays a key role in driving company growth, culture, and strategic operations.

She is passionate about diversity, inclusion, and mentoring the next generation of surveying and spatial science professionals, and is an active contributor to industry and community initiatives across Western Australia.

Angelique Cooper has worked in the association sector since 1999, specialising in member engagement, events, communications and association management.

With more than 25 years’ experience across events, marketing, public relations and business development in Western Australia and South Australia, she has worked with a range of organisations and iconic events including the Angove Street Festival, Channel 7 Christmas Pageant, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Garden Week, and business organisations such as the Western Australian Institution of Surveyors and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA.

Today her focus is association management, supporting both state-based and national professional bodies to strengthen member engagement, deliver professional development and events, and grow their communities.

At the heart of her work is a passion for bringing people together and helping professional communities thrive.

Dr Ivana Ivánová is a senior teaching and research academic in Spatial Sciences at Curtin University, Perth. Her expertise includes spatial data quality, metadata, provenance, and spatial data infrastructures. Through applied research, she supports organisations in improving data and metadata management. She chairs Standards Australia’s IT-004 Committee for Geographic Information/Geomatics, the OGC Data Quality Domain Working Group, and contributes to advisory groups at ISO/TC 211. She leads development of the ISO 19157 multipart standards on geographic information quality.

Alice Nicolaescu is an Article Surveyor.

Pursuing her dream to be become a Licensed surveyor she is undertaking her Profession Training Agreement.

With over 15 years of experience in cadastral surveying, she has a Masters Degree and Bachelor Degree in Surveying from Faculty of Geodesy, Technical University of Construction Bucharest, Romania.

She is an enthusiastic promoter of surveying as a profession and she frequently attends Career Exhibitions and open days where she talks with students and their families about a life in the industry.

As a mother of a young boy she often speaks about the challenges she faces as a full time working mother.

A professional with over fifiteen years of survey experience within the Survey, Spatial Science industry and public sector, with the ability to independently solve problem with great attention to detail and precision.

Experienced in Data management and analysis, Surveying (Geodetic, Cadastral and Engineering Surveying) and GIS analysis gained through professional roles and post-graduate studies.

Vanessa shares her passion in Surveying through working at Landgate, being an educator at Curtin University, and supporting Women in Surveying events through WAIS.

With more than 35 years as an Engineering Surveyor in Ireland, Perth and overseas, she knows exactly what it takes to keep projects moving. Gwynneth Shewan started her career in Ireland, where she completed a diploma in Geo-Surveying, followed by a few years of experience working on feature surveys and civil setout.

A move to Perth saw Gwynneth gain experience working on cadastral, small and large scale construction and  rail infrastructure projects.

Ella is a recent Curtin University graduate who is now working in mining. Throughout her time at University she enjoyed her term as President of the WA Spatial Science Students Association (WASSSA) committee, which sparked her passion in being a mentor for other female students.

Sandra is a TAFE graduate with a Diploma in Surveying and Spatial Services and started her graduate role in open-pit mining. She has gained her 25kg reoc license and is now working in a geospatial surveying role.

During her studies she attended Women in Surveying and Spatial Sciences events and quickly saw the value of building industry connections early.

She is passionate about encouraging students to connect early and supporting them through their study journey.

Jelena  holds a Master’s Degree in Geodesy from the University of Belgrade. Her surveying career has taken her across three continents: Europe, Africa and Australia.

Before moving to Australia, Jelena spent several years teaching surveying and geodesy at a technical high school in Belgrade, sharing her knowledge and supporting the next generation of professionals.

​

She is passionate about connecting people, encouraging women in surveying and creating opportunities for others to learn, grow and feel supported within the industry.
